April 22, 2020: NEW CONFIRMED CASES OF COVID-19 IN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY

(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) — Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) reports an additional 11 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county today. The total number of confirmed cases is 440.

Although most cases of COVID-19 exhibit mild or moderate symptoms, PHD recommends additional measures to prevent exposure among vulnerable people, including the elderly and those with underlying health conditions (such as diabetes, cancer, immunodeficiency, asthma, COPD and others). PHD recommends that residents, especially those who are vulnerable:

  • Stay home except for essential tasks. Ensure you have a two-week supply of medication on hand.
  • When engaging in essential tasks away from home, remain 6 feet away from others and wear a facial covering.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water regularly.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Keep surfaces clean by wiping them down with a household disinfectant,

April 16, 2020: Santa Barbara County Announces Third Death of Patient with COVID-19

Twenty Additional Confirmed Cases Also Reported

(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) — –Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) is reporting that an additional resident has died of COVID-19. The person was a South County resident over 70 years old. As of today, there are 354 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

“Public Health shares our deepest condolences with the family and friends of this community member,” said Santa Barbara County Health Officer Dr. Henning Ansorg. “We continue to ask for the support of every resident as we move forward and get through this difficult time. Only with the help of every person in our community will we make a difference in slowing the spread of this virus.”
